The history of the Dresdner Hütte
April 1873 - Foundation of the Dresden Committee and first considerations to build a refuge in the Tyrolean mountains
August 1875 - Opening of the Dresdner Hütte as first refuge of the Stubai Valley and twentieth refuge of the German and Austrian Alpine Club
September 1887 - Opening of a new chalet section (current position) to replace the too small refuge
1926/27 - Enlargement of the guest rooms
1946 - The Dresden Alpine Club Committees are cancelled from the association registry in Dresden
1945-1956 - Management of the chalet by Austrian administration bodies (trusteeship)
1956 - Assumption of the chalet administration by the Dresden Committee, which was re-founded in Wuppertal in 1953, in accordance with Austrian authorities
1965 - Renovation of the Dresdner Hütte, especially the sanitary facilities
1967 - Buyback of the Dresdner Hütte by the öAV and DAV
1968 - Enlargement of the longhouse and of the building annex
1973 - The Dresdner Hütte has new neighbours: the Stubai Glacier cableway is inaugurated
1990 - Enlargement of the guest rooms and of the storage and kitchen areas
2002 - Modernisation of the big dormitory, integration of fire protection systems and of a fire-proof stair
2006 Integration of a central storage heating system
2008 Renovation of the dormitories, of the superintendents’ apartment, the drying room and the ski storage room and amelioration of all fire protection systems as required by the authorities.
